We recently saw motoryacht Ancora sailing off s’Illa den Colom, Es Grau, Menorca. Flying the Cayman Islands flag and measuring 47.3 metres in length, the yacht was built by the Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay Yachts and represents the third and final hull of the Virtus 47 series, delivered in autumn 2023 to her American owners. Ancora is a notable example of Turkey’s growing presence in the modern superyacht sector, combining contemporary design with semi-custom construction. Her exterior was designed by VYD Studio, with naval architecture by Ginton Naval Architects, and she holds RINA Charter Comfort Class certification. Particularly noteworthy is that her delivery coincided with Mengi Yay’s 100th yacht built, marking a significant milestone for the shipyard during the centenary celebrations of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.
